my account of what happened that night...

8:00pm - After planning on the Ghost Hunt 2 for a week, the much anticipated night finally arrived. Our group met up at Crockett's around 8:00pm. Me and Jared conversed over our new walkie-talkies and sported them inside the restaraunt. "The group" consisted of Me, Traci, Jared, Kennye, Bryan, Heather, James (not our James), Jill, Brooke, and another Brian.

9:30pm - We had to eat quickly and leave so we could get to the movie in time. Since Jeremy had to work til 9, he just met us at the theater. The movie was ok, I'll be posting a review of it on the Updates page later on. After the movie, we heade back to the Holt's house to get ready for the Ghost Hunt 2.

11:30pm - Have you ever been so excited about doing something but when the time came, something inside you just clicked and you felt like you didn't need to do it? Well that happened to me on this night. Between the time we left the theater and arrived at the Holt's, I concluded that I didn't actually want to go on the Hunt. I understand that some people may think that I pussed out or am a prude, but it's hard for me to go against a gut feeling. Turns out, I'm kinda glad I followed my gut feeling on this occasion.

I hung back at the Holt's house with Traci and Kennye while everyone else went on the Hunt. I just sat on the couch watching the battery level of my walkie-talkie slowly decrease. I didn't hear anyone talk after they left the driveway--I'm still glad that I bought it though.

It wasn't 20 minutes before Kennye's phone rang. Boog and Heather (the getaway drivers) were parked at W.T.'s Market when some cops pulled in and questioned them. They told the cops that they were waiting on some friends and the cops seemed to buy it somewhat. So, they called us to drive by the market so it would look like they were really waiting on someone.

On our way to W.T.'s Market, Jeremy called me. It turns out that he was hiding behind the house, and someone had driven up to the house. Jeremy was asking me if I was pulling a "fast one" on them, but I assured him that I did not. I told him that we were headed to W.T.'s Market to meet Boog and Heather because they had been confronted by some cops. Jeremy wouldn't tell me much about where he was hiding, I'm not too sure he was completely convinced that I wasn't screwing with them.

When we got to W.T.'s, we could see a car pulled up to the house. I think Traci said "oh, shit" around this point. Boog and Heather were kinda freaked out. Heather had just talked to Bryan who said that the owner was at the house and wasn't happy. She heard Jared in the background saying something like, "We promise we'll never come back."

I told them that we needed to drive around or something so that we both weren't just sitting there. We pretty much just drove up and down the road for awhile to find out what was going on. Heather called Bryan back again and we heard that cops were there and that someone had a gun. Bryan told us that we should go on back to the Holt's house and wait for them there. The owner wasn't going to press charges, but the cops were going to take down everyone's name because they couldn't just let them go without getting some type of information.

By the time we got back to the Holt's, I was on the phone with Jeremo again urging him to turn himself in. I thought that if the cops searched the place and found Jeremy hiding, then it'd be worse than if he just turned himself in. Jeremy was adamant not to turn himself in though, and I can understand that. I think if I were in his position, I would just want to try to get away if I could. Luckily, none of the other dudes mentioned having someone else with them, and even Justin Holt was smart enough to erase the pictures he'd taken that had Jeremy in them.

After waiting at the Holt's house for a bit, Bryan finally called and said that they were heading back. Brian had met the group there in his truck, so he hauled them all back to the Holt's house. Everyone was in good spirits, but relieved that nothing bad had happened. Now we only had Jeremy on the loose.

Around 1:30am - Apparently, after the hunters had left the house, the cops took one more look around the house. Jeremy saw someone walking toward him with a flashlight, so he jetted out of there--through some bushes, a big open field and over about 3 fences. Traci and I went out to get Jeremy, and at first he was saying that he was beside one of the tall red radio towers, so we headed in that direction. We took several roads, each of them eventually leading us further away from the radio tower.

Traci was getting frustrated because we couldn't find him, I was getting frustrated because Traci was frustrated, and Jeremy was frustrated that he lost his little Mag-light that he'd just bought earlier that night. I think I said at some point that I was glad that he lost his flashlight. Sorry Jeremo.

After 30-40 minutes, we finally got on the right road (Rucker Ln.--the road that Jeremy said he was telling us all along...uh-uh) and we picked Jeremy up. It turns out that he was actually no where close to the tall radio tower. I think it was either the diabetes talking, or D.C.I. (Don Cheadle Interference).

We finally got him back to the Holt's house and we all discussed the evening. It turns out that no one got any good pictures. The old man-owner said that several teenagers had been coming to this house for the past few weeks because they heard it was haunted. Bryan mentioned that they were just the last ones to hear about it. The owner assured the hunters that it wasn't haunted, and that his mom had died there (an oxymoron if I've ever heard one). The woman that was with the old man was trying to press charges--I think she called 9-1-1 at one point, because the hunters were saying that 3 cops raced up the drive-way to find out what was going on. One of our group said something about her and her husband, and she said something like, "he's not my husband, he's my friend."

The "Secret Window" to get into the house had been thoroughly boarded up, so no one could actually get inside the house. But, I don't think the trip was in vain...I think everyone had a memorable evening, with or without the ghosts.

I'm glad that everyone got home safely; while nothing bad did happen, I'm glad that I followed my gut instinct. And I apologize if I ticked off anyone by not going on the hunt. I dare say that my ghost hunting days are over, because I think we should keep researching more places that are presumably haunted. Next time, we'll just make sure that we have permission to explore the place. Til next time, don't give up the ghost!
